THE BIGGEST LIE IN THE BIBLE

Did you know that though the Bible is The Word of Truth it contains many lies? Let me explain in case there might be a misunderstanding to this statement. The Bible is absolutely trustworthy in all respects. It is so true that it reports accurately the lies of Satan and sinful men. It never records lies as truth.

The first lie recorded in the Bible is the biggest one of all, and it is found in Genesis, the third chapter, fourth verse:

"And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die."

In what respect can we say that this is the biggest lie in the Bible?
First of all, it is told by the biggest liar! The biggest liar is the father of lies, Satan. We read in John 8:44 that Messiah named the devil as a murderer, and said of him that "No truth is in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: FOR HE IS A LIAR AND THE FATHER OF IT."

The Word of God tells us that Satan has a following and any one who follows him is called a liar even as Satan is a liar. One of the things that God hates is a lying tongue which includes a false witness.

"These six things doth the Lord hate: Yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19)

The Word of God says that liars cannot enter Heaven. We read of this in the book of Revelation:

"And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie...." (Revelation 21:27)

In the book of Revelation, the twenty-first chapter, the eighth verse, we read that liars are listed with murderers and idolaters. The strong use of the word "liar", includes all those who deny that there is a God or do not believe that God means what He says.
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)

Another reason why this first lie in the Bible is the BIGGEST LIE, is because it denies the most important truth. What is this most important truth? In the book of Genesis, God said to Adam:
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." (Genesis 2:17)

God said Adam would die if he partook of this forbidden fruit. But Satan said, "You shall NOT die." In other words, Satan was positively denying the truth. He was saying that man can disobey God and go unpunished. He was saying that God really doesn't mean what He says - that He doesn't know what He is talking about. Satan was calling God a liar!

What happened when Adam and Eve believed this big lie of Satan? It caused the worst disaster that could ever be. 

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." (Romans 5:12)

Adam and Eve became fallen creatures and were driven from the Garden of Eden. The whole race was plunged into sin and death. The curse was put upon all creation. All death, sickness, crime, sorrow, and misery stem from believing this great lie. Even Messiah's death became necessary because of this lie.

Another reason why this first lie in the Bible is the biggest lie is because a major part of humanity still believes it. Men still believe they can live in sin and get away with it - that is, not receive God's punishment for it.

Like Adam and Eve, the attractions of this world, the new sensations and new knowledge lead people to believe Satan's lie. The level of sin-consciousness is very low today and most people cannot discern truth from error. Some who believe the lie of the devil might not realize it, but this is no excuse before God. Ignorance of the law is not excusable in a court of justice.

The offender must be punished for his wrong-doing. It is the same in the Court of Heaven.
